What Size Band is Pizazz?

Pizazz performs as a Duo, Trio or Four Piece Band in Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.

DUO: Female Vocalist and Male Vocalist / Guitarist

TRIO: Female Vocalist, Male Vocalist / Guitarist AND Male Vocalist / Keyboard Player

FOUR : Trio plus Saxophone Player

How soon before our wedding should we book our band?

Pizazz takes bookings usually up to 12 months before a wedding. 

So, to avoid missing out, be sure to book Pizazz early so that you don't miss out due to the band being booked for another wedding or function!

Can we see Pizazz performing anywhere?

Yes! Pizazz hold regular Viewing Nights where you can come and see them perform and hear them 'live' and decide whether Pizazz would be suitable to perform at their Wedding.   

The performance is in a private, relaxed and comfortable setting.

For the first 30 to 40 minutes, Pizazz performs a variety of styles of songs that they would normally perform at a Wedding or function.

After that, they answer any questions that you may have in regards to your Wedding music.    

As they receive multiple enquiries for the same date, the first couple to reply will be booked into our viewing evening.

We unfortunately cannot allow more than one couple for the same date to our performance (in case they both want to book us!).

How long does the band perform for?

Pizazz usually performs for approximately 4 x 45 minute sets if time allows, or three longer sets, over a 4 to 5 hour period.

The latter sometimes works better, as it is best to keep the music going whilst guests are already on the dance-floor.

But, Pizazz are happy to work around the formalities, do shorter sets if need be, and adhere to the Bride and Groom's requests.

What is the benefit of a smaller band like Pizazz versus a larger band or a DJ?  

The benefit of a smaller band over a larger one is that they have better control over the volume (which is very important at a Wedding).

It is very hard to turn down a drum kit or a horn section (!) unless it is required for a very large wedding in a very large venue.

The larger the band of course means more expense. Extra equipment may need to be hired and possibly even a sound engineer.

More members in a band means more mouths to feed!

Also, a 2, 3 or 4 piece bands is easier to accommodate in terms of fitting onto a stage. Many venues only fit maybe a three or four piece band at the most, so that is something to consider.

The benefit of a band like Pizazz over a DJ is that a live band creates a certain lively atmosphere. The visual aspect of a band is important because people like to feel that they are being entertained, and that is certainly something that Pizazz does!

What happens when Pizazz is not on stage?

Pizazz provides appropriate background music on our system to set the style and mood of the function when they aren't performing.

The Bride and Groom can provide some music on CD if they have a favourite style that they would like in between a set.

But please remember that Pizazz are not DJ's and would prefer that you put all the songs that you want onto one CD!

Keep in mind that the songs that are played have to be enjoyed by the majority of guests including the old and young.

Can we choose some songs that the band performs?

Pizazz have had many years of experience performing at Weddings and Functions and they are very good at reading the crowd and choosing appropriate songs. They know which songs are crowd favourites and they are well aware that they need to please not only the Bride and Groom but guests of all ages at the function. So the Bride and Groom can definitely leave the songs up to Pizazz if they wish!

The Bride and Groom are more than welcome to choose some songs from the Song List that they would really like to be played, but more importantly, you can cross out the ones that you don't want played. But please leave in Dancing Queen as it is bound to get requested!

What about formalities?

Apart from Speeches, there are a number of other formalities to consider at your Wedding. There is the Entrance of the Bridal Party, the Cutting of the Cake, the Bridal Waltz, the Father/Daughter Dance (if you wish), the Throwing of the Bouquet and Garter, and the Farewell Circle or Tunnel (if you wish). You can leave the music up to Pizazz or let them know if you have any special requests.

Can we provide our Bridal Waltz on CD?

Absolutely. You can provide a CD with the original artist singing if you wish. This is very popular as many brides and grooms learn their Bridal Waltz Dance to the original song and feel more comfortable that way, as the band may do something slightly different in the song. Or, you can choose from one of the many appropriate songs in the Pizazz Repertoire. If it is not part of the Song-List, Pizazz band will be happy to learn it if given sufficient time.
